Lakol Band - Petavi, Haiti

La Fle Resiye is a Haitian Rara band that has existed outside of Jacmel, Haiti for well over 100 years. Unfortunately, they do not have their own instruments at this time and must borrow from other Rara bands. During Rara season, (the 40 day’s that coincide with Lent) this can prove quite inconvenient! In addition, they would ideally like to start a second band called Lakol Band if only they could acquire their own instruments. HaitiaNOLA, a Haiti and New Orleans based organization that works to amplify the connection between Haiti and New Orleans by fascilitating artistic and cultural exchanges, created this video to help raise funds for the instruments.
