Lucrecia Kasilag - Divertissement for Piano and Orchestra (1960) (sheet music)
Lucrecia Kasilag - Divertissement for Piano and Orchestra (1960) (sheet music)
Zenas Reyes-Lozada (piano) Lucrecia Kasilag conducting the CCP Philharmonic Orchestra
0:00 I. Allegro Moderato
4:12 II. Poco Andante
9:17 III. Allegro Vivace
------------------
The 1st movement employs the "Singkil" ground bass rhythm against an original and ever-shifting Mozart-like theme. This movement might well be call an "Allegro in white" for its lack of use of the lack keys on the piano.
The second movement is in simple variation form, based on a nine-measure Muslim chant, "dende-o-dende". It is veiled in Oriental mysticism with an underlying syncopated ostinato background.
The final is in rondo form, the heightening of excitement achieved by the use of triple against duple rhythm with a measure.
