Original Dixieland Jass Band (ODJB) was founded in New Orleans in 1916. Their first jazz recording is
dated 1917. In late 1917 it changed the name's spelling to "Jazz."

This purely acoustic live recording was made at the Archeophonica Phonograph Exhibition in beautiful Bolzano, Italy on July 15, 2017. Six members of the Tiger Dixie Band Band performed the Tiger Rag direct to wax.

Back in 2010, Ryan Kelley of Intersection Films asked us if we would contribute our treatment of “Dixie’s Land” to be the opening of the film documentary that Ryan and his partner, Trent Reeves, were making about the classic Dan Emmett song. We were flattered to be so considered and of course readily agreed. We rendezvoused with the film-makers during the July Gettysburg reenactment that year and filmed our all-acoustic, all-authentic period instrument version.
It took quite a while for Intersection to get the piece completed, but in 2017 they were finally able to get it screened on various individual PBS and other TV broadcast stations across the country, as well as in various college and university settings. Intersection Films’ “Dixie” is an interesting and entertaining piece - clearly relevant in today’s turbulent and politically charged atmosphere.

We are presenting here the full recording made that day, which Ryan generously provided to us at our request. Seventeen years after joining forces as the backing band for rockabilly cult hero Ronnie Hawkins, Canadian roots rockers The Band call it quits with a lavish farewell show at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom on Nov. 25, 1976. Filmed by Martin Scorsese, this documentary features standout performances by rock legends such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchell and Muddy Waters, as well as interviews tracing the group's history and discussing road life.
