Nacido en Port-au-Prince, Haití, comenzó su carrera profesional en 1976 con el DP Express, una orquesta de Direk Kompa (Haití música popular bailable) que conocerá un gran éxito y con el que se va a grabar tres álbumes; marcan un punto de inflexión en la historia del género. Desde 1980-1994 trabajó como músico de estudio y participó en la construcción de varios cientos de álbumes durante este período. Autodidacta carrera, él seguirá cursos de composición y armonía con Gérald Merceron de 1980 a 1984.
